Hi Felicity. Felicite perpetue is a lovely rambler rose - but its what we call summer flowering. A wonderful display in midsummer - then that's it until next year. Sorry to disappoint - but it does not repeat - worth waiting for though!

Andy is absolutely right - just one glorious display. the advantage is that most ramblers are extremely tough, reliable and healthy. you can extend the flowering season by planting one of the shorter Clematis to grow through it like the alpinas to flower early or the viticellas or texensis hybrids to flower in late summer. The latter two should be cut back hard each winter to encourage fresh young growth and helps to keep it tidy as well. Some ramblers bear a wonderful crop of hips in the autumn - my favourite being Francis E Lester.
