Please can you tell me the species of this tree? It is located at Haigh Hall in Wigan, Lancashire.  I was hoping to use it in an assignment but all attempts to identify have failed. Thank you.

My research so far is leading me to believe this is a form of weeping cedar, however the pictures I have found online show a different shape of tree that is less compact. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Gayle - apologies. I meant to reply on this one days ago! I'm slightly thrown by this one. I would guess at Chamaecyparis nootkatensis - mature specimen with bottom branches removed. However it is very regular in shape so I could be wrong!

Thanks so much for this Andy. I will relay this back to all the people asking. The tree is a total enigma to everyone and I have asked a lot of people in the know who haven't got the foggiest what it is!
