Black & White Fine Art photography & Beyond From Basics to Fine Art - Finding your Vision and Personal Style

Find your vision through Black and White Fine Art Photograhy - (en)Visionography - and beyond with Julia Anna Gospodarou on the new digital learning photography course Black & White Fine Art Photography & Beyond now bookable on the award winning virtual photography school

MyPhotoSchool’s new online course is a fascinating insight into the creative thinking underlying the work of one of the world’s most successful contemporary fine art photographers. Gospodarou draws on her own experience of B&W fine art architectural photography, but gives students rules and techniques that they can then apply to any B&W fine art photography.

Both a theoretical and practical course, students will learn what makes a fine art photograph and why the artist’s vision is so important. Students will be given a set of ‘rules’ to follow, the so-called “Guide to Vision”, and will discover the importance of composition and technique to help them produce their best ever B&W fine art images. Gospodarou also discusses (en)Visionography - a new term she created to define fine art photography in the digital era. The course concludes with the all-important processing stage when RAW images are transformed into fine art prints in the digital darkroom, where Julia explains how to process images with her B&W processing method ‘Photography Drawing’.

Julia Anna Gospodarou is based in Athens, Greece and is an architect and internationally multi-awarded B&W fine art photographer , mostly known for her B&W long exposure. In her architectural career she has worked with some of the most influential architects in the world, and on some of the most important projects in Greece, including the Olympic structures.

Geoff Harris

I am a journalist and photographer and currently work as the Deputy Editor of Amateur Photographer (AP) the oldest weekly photographic magazine in the world. Before that I served as the editor of Digital Camera, Britain's best-selling photography magazine, for five years. During my time as editor it became the UK's top selling photo monthly and won Print Publication of the Year at the 2013 British Media Awards. As well as being lucky enough to get paid to write about photography, I've been fortunate to interview some of the greatest photographers in the world, including Elliott Erwitt, Don McCullin, Martin Parr, Terry O'Neill and Steve McCurry. This has been a wonderful learning experience and very influential on my photography. Beyond writing, I am a professional portrait, travel and documentary photographer, and reached the finals of the 2016 Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year competition. I am a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society and hope to take my Associateship whenever I can find the time. In addition I write about well being/personal development and antiques collecting for a range of other titles, including BlueWings, the in-flight magazine of Finn Air.
