Amateur gardener, semi retired/part time legal secretary, blogger, Tweeter, grannie, cancer survivor, maker of cotton bags and always ready to learn something new. I have a fairly small garden that is overloaded with plants and shrubs! The soil is heavy clay on the West Sussex coast, although it is in much better condition now since I have been adding goodness over the past 14 years. It is surrounded on 3 sides with a Victorian stone wall which is host to many many snails which love to devour any and all plants, even those that are supposed to be mollusc proof. I also have an ivy problem. There are two patio areas, one south facing with lots of pots and is a micro climate and a larger one at the back of the house. I will be moving in the next 6 months or so and probably will only have a small courtyard for pots, also I am not very good at carrying out planting ideas, I have good ideas but don't end up with what I want, hence doing this course.
