Gardening Courses London

Gardening and Horticulture in London Calling all Gardeners in London.  Are you looking for gardening courses in London?  You've come to the right place.  Whether you're a North London Islington type, or a South London Hoxton gardener, we can help!   In fact you can be anywhere  in the city to take a London Gardening Course at MyGardenSchool, as all our gardening courses are online. One of our tutors (Alex Mitchell) actually specialises in The Edible Garden, and lives in Greenwich, with a small, city style garden - which is crammed with vegetables!

Allotments

Follow MyGardenSchool's Tara - on her allotment. Allotment Gardening Allotment gardening offers an escape from city life, in an area of quiet countryside not far from your doorstep. In exchange for some regular light exercise, the allotment rewards you with wonderfully fresh and varied fruit and vegetables for much of the year. A typical five-pole plot - around 125 sq metres - costs less than £1 a week and is large enough to provide you with a good range of crops.   Allotments in Lambeth Lorn Road Allotments   The London Borough of Lambeth contains a number of allotment sites, which are of various sizes and in different parts of the Borough. Some of these allotment sites are council owned and managed, but the majority are privately owned or managed by a independent association. We currently manage two allotment sites in the borough: Lorn Road Allotments Lorn Road, Stockwell, London SW9 location map for Lorn Road Allotments This is a small set of allotments off Lorn Road, off Brixton Road SW9. Lorn Road Allotments are owned and managed by Lambeth Parks and Greenspaces. There are only 29 plots at Lorn Road, and given the active plotholder community on site and its small size, this means that the waiting list for the site is long and currently closed. There is a Lorn Road Allotments Management Advisory Committee (MAC), which represents allotment holders with regards to the council and other stakeholders. The MAC doesn't take requests for allotments, so people must go through the council to ask if plots are available. Chesterman-Robinson Allotments Helmsdale Road, Streatham Vale SW16 location map for Chesterman-Robinson Allotments This is a set of allotments located between Bridgewood, Grayscroft and Helmsdale Roads in Streatham Vale named in memory of two local allotment activists Paul Chesterman and Fred Robinson. The allotments are owned and managed by Lambeth Parks and Greenspaces, and were restored during 2010 with funding provided through Lambeth Council's Ward Priority Programme. We are currently planning to set up a new allotments management association which will help the council look after and develop the site. Capital Growth Capital Growth is a partnership initiative between London Food Link, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson, and the Big Lottery's Local Food Fund. It is championed by the Chair of the London Food Board Rosie Boycott and aims to create 2012 new community food growing spaces across London by the end of 2012.  Capital Growth offers practical help, grants, training and support to groups wanting to establish community food growing projects as well as advice to landowners.
