Goldsmiths' Company contribute to supporting the precious metal and jewellery crafts, industry and trade through training, education and promotion, including through programmes delivered by the Goldsmiths' Centre.
Joanna Hardy had just launched her exhibition in October 2017, Timeless Innovation, at the Goldsmith's Hall so it was the perfect time to film the collection and introduce another lesson of hers, Craftsmanship. You will see over the duration of the course, Jewellery Foundation, craftsmanship is a topic where many jewellery designers and companies such at Goldsmith Hall, come in to play. Joanna discussed her reasoning for the pieces she chose to showcase, those which demonstrate exact craftsmanship and innovative design, that in her opinion, are timeless.
Joanna guides you through the many techniques and skills employed by master craftspeople in her Jewellery Foundation Course. She uncovers what it takes to uphold such a title and why she has so much admiration for these designers. Included in her lesson of Craftmanship, visits to the workshops of top London jewellers such as Shaun Leane, Wartski and Fred Rich will reveal the steps involved in techniques ranging from stone setting to enamelling. This lesson will help you to better understand the skills behind jewellery.
Joanna herself has just become a chair woman for the company so lots more exciting news to come with that.
