Autumn, The Season to Plant

Digging your hands in the soil, smelling the scents rising from the earth, letting your eyes feast on the golden colours of leaves...gardeners know that autumn is the ideal season to put in young plants. They will have time to dig their roots into the ground lastingly and gather reserves to spend a good winter before the first rays of spring sun bring them out of their dormant period.

What’s on?

Plants of course! Selected for their beauty and their confirmed resistance, they have been bred in the best conditions to take root and enliven your garden. Nursery specialists are there to give advice, on how to make a success of your plantations.

New design ideas with landscape gardeners, designers and craftsmen acknowledged for the originality and the know-how of their creations. Introductory, pruning and planting workshops will be organised by a selection of nursery growers. Without forgetting children who will be invited to take part in activities inspired by nature and gardening. Coming to Chantilly is also an opportunity to enjoy the exceptional hospitality that makes this visit an unforgettable moment.

Celebratory Gold

After the splendid flowering of the «exuberant spring» which enlivened the paths of Chantilly during the May session, it will be time for the flamboyance of autumn! The branches of the park trees will be in unison with the variety of golds, bronzes and reds of the trees and shrubs offered by nurseries. Without forgetting perennials flowering from September and the gold plummets of ornamental grasses which generously contribute to the show of autumns colours.

Selected Profiles

Four nursery growers have been selected to develop the theme for the press and for gardeners. Each one will select plants from his or her production, which will not only illustrate the theme but will also be adapted to the three categories of gardeners expected at the Domaine de Chantilly: beginners, confirmed and collectors. Each of these plants will be accompanied by planting and care recommendations.

Look out for the “Selected Profiles” of:

- Thierry Delabroye and his intensely coloured perennials

- Eric Lagun-Bouchet (Pépinière L’autre jardin) and his golden grasses as light as the wind

- Gérard Hillion (Pépinieres du Val de Jargeau) and the incredible variety of colours of maples

- Olivier Marx (Pépinieres Figoli), for his first time at the Journées des Plantes de Chantilly, will share all his secrets for the success of fig trees, with a selection of figs from pure white to jet black through all nuances of green and red...

An unforgettable autumn day!

A day at the Journées des Plantes de Chantilly can be a wonderful outing in the country with family or friends. Plan a full day to enjoy all the pleasures and advantages offered by the Domaine de Chantilly.
